About The Event
Greetings and salutations to you, the youths of the Frankston Theatre Group🤩
This message is coming to you from me, an amateur theatre director and hopefully, ambitious new addition to your group.
My name is Lilly Fruitman (yes, that is my name) and I would like to inform all of you about an upcoming event Sarah and I have locked in for the 3rd of March between 7pm-10pm.
On this night, there will be a screening in the Frankston Theatre shed of one of my all-time favourite films, 'The Court Jester', a light-hearted story set in medieval times about a clumsy carnival performer named Hubert Hawkins posing as a jester to help overthrow the tyrannical King Roderick I.
This old-fashioned comedy from the 50s is something I wish to put forward to you as the basis for a new potential project - turning feature films into stage productions. Shockingly, this film has never once been mounted on a live stage despite it being perfect musical material, and it has been a long-time dream of mine to make this show a reality.
I understand that you are a passionate, hard-working team of aspiring actors, producers, editors, etc. The purpose of this event will be to watch the film in its entirety and rewatch in order to collectively workshop some of those tricky scenes with as many unique and fresh perspectives as conceivable (I have a basic run-down of how I think it could go but I want out-of-the-box thinking, go nuts!)
I extend this invitation to all like-minded patrons of the arts as much as possible as I am also eager to meet all of you and get an idea of how you work as a team. Please do join us with your notebooks and computers (and snacks if you wish) and I hope to see you there that evening. Have an awesome week.
